TSA Transformation and Development Strategy Draft Document

Over the past few months Tennis South Africa has been working on a new transformation and development strategy.
This strategy is very much a work in progress, but we felt it was the right time to share it for public comment.
We would welcome your feedback on this document.

Junior National Tennis Champions Crowned in Bloemfontein

Bloemfontein resident, Philip Henning wrote his name amongst the junior tennis greats of South Africa on Easter Sunday when he won the under 18 boys singles title at the Free State Tennis Stadium.
Henning, aged 17 is in his first under 18 year and his comfortable 6-2 6-1 win over Lleyton Cronje of Pretoria in 1 hour 16 minutes was his sixth junior national singles title.

TSA Juniors Update

Rain delayed play on Thursday at the TSA Juniors 2017 being played in Bloemfontein. This will mean a lot of tennis to catch up on over the remaining days.

South Africa named best junior tennis nation in Africa

The  two boys who took title honours at the ITF/CAT African Junior Championships which ended on Tuesday at the Benoni Tennis Complex in Benoni are Pierre Malan and Carl Roothman both of the Western Cape. Fourth seeded Malan won the Boys under 16 title beating unseeded Soufiane el Mesbahi of Morocco 6-2 6-1 in the final. Fifth seeded Roothman upset third seeded Mhedi Benchekroun of Morocco 4-6 6-2 6-1 to capture the Boys under 14 title.

A second open letter to the SA tennis community

It has been five months since I started at TSA. To be honest it feels a lot longer! There is a lot happening within tennis in SA and now seems an opportune time to share with you some recent developments. As you will see shortly, we have made some interesting progress in several areas, but there is still a daunting amount to do and I will not gloss over the challenges we face.

Expectations seem very high in the tennis community right now and to be honest, it is frustrating for me that we can’t fix all the problems 

South African Fed Cup Team Announced

Tennis South Africa (TSA) announced their strongest possible Fed Cup team for the upcoming Fed Cup Euro/Africa Zone Group 2 tournament to be played from 17-22 April 2017 in Siauliai, Lithuania.
The team announced is; Chanel Simmonds, Ilze Hattingh, Madrie le Roux and Makayla Loubser with Earl Grainger as Captain.
In line with the TSA vision of developing and “grooming” juniors for future Fed Cup duty, TSA announced that junior Linge Steenkamp (Free State) would be travelling to Lithuania with the team.
