Tennis South Africa (TSA) has paid tribute to British tennis player, Anne Shilcock (nee Spann) who passed away this week, aged 86.

Shilcock, a Grand Slam winner, spent over 40 years living in South Africa contributing greatly working with the coaches. Her contributions to tennis in South Africa included educating countless South African coaches with the latest information from around the world.

“It is with such great sadness that we receive the news of Anne’s passing, an individual that has contributed so much to South African tennis development. We thank her for the countless advanced coaching methods that she shared in this country.”

Shilcock won the Wimbledon doubles championship alongside fellow English woman Angela Mortimer in 1955, becoming the first all-British team to win the home title since 1937.
