The KIA SA men's team have earned a Davis Cup home tie against Israel in February 2018. This is after Israel beat Romania in a Euro/Africa Group One relegation play-off, over the weekend.

Earlier this year South Africa was promoted to Euro/Africa Group One, after beating Estonia, Slovenia and Denmark in consecutive Davis Cup ties.

Israel will be tough opponents - spearheaded by veteran, Dudi Sela, currently ranked 65th in the world.

The venue for the Israel clash will be confirmed in due course.

Meanwhile, the tie will be played under the new experimental rules introduced by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) for Zone one and two groups  - specifically:

  • A two-day (Friday and Saturday) format - which will see two singles matches played on Day one, and the doubles match followed by the two reverse singles matches on Day two.
  • Best of three set matches - for both singles and doubles matches.
