The Free State province was the first to host its provincial leg of the 2024 RCS Rising Star Tennis Schools Championships at the Free State Tennis Stadium and University of Free State Tennis Courts in Mangaung this past weekend.

In the boys' category, the 2023 national champions, Grey College Primary, secured first and second place, with Universitas Primary A coming in third place. Grey College Primary has secured their spot in the national final for the fifth consecutive year and aims to win a fourth title in five years, having previously won in 2020, 2021, and 2023.

In the girls' event, the reigning national champions, C&N Primêre Meisieskool Oranje, also advanced to the national finals by taking first and second place, while Fichardt Park Primary school claimed third place. Oranje Meisies will be hoping to win the girls' crown for the fourth year in a row in the national final, following victories in 2020, 2022, and 2023.

A sport project with a purpose, RCS Rising Star Tennis aims to create opportunities for primary school boys and girls, as well as kids living with disabilities from all communities and to increase youth participation in tennis.
